CranioSacral therapy works to relieve tensions in all layers of the body caused from stress, strain, and physical traumas. When we suffer injury, our body works to repair our tissues but this often results in the fascia and tissue layers being tight or less flexible, causing restrictions which inhibit function and cause pain. When structure is impacted, all system's of our body are impacted in their ability function optimally. These tensions also radiate to the center of our body's health--our nervous system, transferring tension to the soft tissues and fluid of our brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
CST has been shown to release tensions causing:
Migraines, Headaches, and Seizures
Chronic Neck and Back pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Infant and Childhood Disorders
Immune Disorders
Post-Concussion Symptoms
Chronic Fatigue
TMJ Syndrome
Scoliosis
Central Nervous System Disorders
Learning Difficulties, ADD, ADHD
Autism
Alzheimer's
Orthopedic Problems
Digestive, Endocrine, Respiratory, Circulatory, etc disfunctions
Somatoemotional Release also works to release tensions in our tissues as a result of emotional traumas. When we have a sympathetic state of fight or flight, and then feel helpless and trapped, our body stores that memory and energy in our tissues, causing us to feel stress, anxiety, anger, fear, etc. PTSD is simply our subconscious being triggered/reminded of this memory which flashes us back to these feelings and responses. This unprocessed event and emotion trapped in our tissues leads to pain and dis-ease. SER helps the client renegotiate life's traumas both big and small and thus frees them from emotional and physical stress and tensions in the body (soma) and mind.
Top examples are:
Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Most CST/SER therapists are body workers that have added this element to their practice because they recognize that both physical and emotional traumas are trapped in body's tissues of the client's that they are working with. My background has been a progression starting from a study of emotional wellness first. I realized working with the conscious side of the brain, while helpful and good, wasn't complete as it didn't get to the root of why we have these knee-jerk, subconscious-based responses. After studying about trauma, I realized we all have little PTSD traumas that are the source of all our protective masks and responses. I came to understand that these are trapped within our tissues. The work of addressing our beliefs and emotions needed to go hand-in-hand with releasing that trauma from the body. And lastly, I realized that while releasing and renegotiating experiences was beneficial, what was also missing from other trauma theories was addressing the false perception adopted at the time of trauma. Without addressing this false belief, we continue to bring about other traumas into our life because we still hold the same false belief. To begin living from our higher selves we needed to adjust our lens to see accordingly.
I am a certified CranioSacral therapist who has taken classes training in cranial bones and their membranes as well as specific training on the brain's glial interface, nerves, brain structures, and vascular and cerebral spinal fluid circulation. Other classes include Concussion, Alzheimer's and longevity, immune system, pregnancy, birth, and conception, pediatrics, hard palate mouth work, SomatoEmotional release, imagery and dialogue working with dreams, and Heart-centered therapy.
This work is life changing because it believes in the principle that we treat the person not the disease. With that in mind, anyone who is desirous to get to the root of whatever is bringing about dis-ease and who is willing to do what it takes to bring their body, mind, and spirit back to health, truth, and love will find success. That means change, which takes courage. Honesty is required as we drop the masks and get real, sharing how they care for their body, what their thought processes are, what traumas they have been through, etc.. As we do so, we find the true source of protection, peace and healing.
